First Steps

A friend at work is having a baby boy in a couple of months, so I thought this was a good opportunity to dust off my knitting needles (actually, they’re my mother’s knitting needles – we learnt to knit by watching her knit) and do something for her and the little guy.

It’s been so long since I’ve done any knitting, but thankfully, in amongst the bags of wool and aforementioned needles that my mum gave me the last time I visited, I found a simple boottee pattern and some sunshiney lemon wool. The fabulous buttons came from the equally fabulous http://www.pearlsandscarlett.com/ and were just perfect. Well, technically they weren’t perfect, because they were much bigger than the pattern said, which meant I had to get inventive with the buttonhole, but after two test runs, I had it sussed size-wise and off I went. They knitted up surprisingly fast and were pretty straightforward and I’m really pleased with the way they came out. So is the happy mum-to-be, which at the end of the day is all that matters.Image
